My Story

I was born in Southern California and both of my parents are artistic, I began sketching at 8 years old. Years went by and I became interested in the Native American People through the photographic works of Edward Curtis. After leaving California in 1977 I settled in Rapid City, South Dakota which brought me in touch with local Pow Wows in S.D. and Montana, also ranching events, rodeos, and state fairs. This is when I began photographing my own subjects and hiring models to pose for my artwork, as well as commissioned work.

I began by using graphite pencil and after 10 years of 'black and white' I discovered colored pencils, oils, and later pastels. I am self taught and use my own photographs for reference material. I have won many awards, have had my work published in art magazines, and in a children's book called, "My Very Own World Adventure". My work also hangs in private and corporate collections in the Northern Plains states. Currently my artwork will be featured in the revised edition of the book titled, "The Encyclopedia of Colored Pencil Drawing".

After living in Southwestern Colorado for 8 years I moved to Florence, Oregon to be close to the Ocean again, and to enjoy all of the outdoor activities available year round. I am a member of the Florence Regional Arts Alliance and show my work in the FRAA Gallery at 121 Maple St. in Florence and at the Backstreet Gallery at 1421 Bay Street in Florence, Oregon. I have a website, and some of my art is also displayed for sale at the Prairie Edge Galleries in Rapid City, S.D. "My creative work is my joy. This gift has given me the freedom to represent an expression of the natural world that I love in a beautiful and unique way so that I can share it with others".
